PRESS RELEASE: BRING BACK OUR GIRLS

May 6, 2014

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

6th May 2014

PAN-AFRICAN SOLIDARITY ACTION: #BRINGBACKOURGIRLS

Nairobi- Kenya: Over 200 girls are still missing in Nigeria after being captured by the Boko Haram. The Nigerian government has been worse than silent. They arrested the people protesting for the action.

Even after release they still do nothing to try and find the girls. Female bodies continue to be used as collateral in war and nothing is being done about it. Africa needs to stop. We all need to pay attention to this and to the lives of young girls everywhere: in the DRC, in Chad, in Kenya, in South Africa, in Burundi. Everywhere even beyond moments of crises. African governments must be put under pressure to speak out against the silence. We cannot afford the luxury to forget.

On Thursday 8th May Africa will stop. There will be protests across the continent to make sure the Nigerian government hears that we need them to take action and bring back the kidnapped girls.

Over 200 girls are still missing in Nigeria. We want action, and we want it now.
